  • 8 ounces strong coffee
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 1 Tablespoon concentrated coffee (for frosting)
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the coffee reduction by boiling brewed coffee until it reduces to 2 tablespoons.
  2. Melt butter and semi-sweet chocolate together in a bowl over simmering water or in the microwave.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  4. Combine sugars and melted chocolate mix; then add eggs one by one, mixing well.
  5. Stir in the concentrated coffee before folding in dry ingredients gently.
  6. Pour into a greased baking pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25 minutes until moist crumbs remain on the toothpick.
