  • 120 ml (1/2 cup) warm water
  • 300 g (2 1/2 cups) strong white bread flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 tsp (5g) sugar (caster or superfine)
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp (5g) salt
  • 150 ml (1/2 cup + 2 tbsp) natural yogurt
  • 30 g (2 tbsp) melted unsalted butter
  • 34 tbsp plain (all-purpose) flour
  • 75 g (5 tbsp) melted unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tsp dried parsley (or 4 tsp finely chopped fresh parsley)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture by combining yeast and warm water in a bowl; let it sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a stand mixer, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, yeast mixture, yogurt, and melted butter; mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough with a dough hook for approximately 10 minutes until sticky.
  4. Allow the dough to rise in an oiled bowl covered with a damp cloth for 60-90 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Divide the dough into six balls and roll each into an elongated teardrop shape.
  6. Preheat your oven to its lowest setting to keep cooked naan warm.
  7. Heat a non-stick frying pan over high heat; cook one naan for about three minutes on each side until puffed and golden.
  8. Mix melted butter with minced garlic and parsley; brush over hot naan after cooking.
  9. Keep cooked naan warm under foil while repeating with remaining dough.
