  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 23 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Onion powder to taste
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded parmigiano reggiano cheese
  • 1 cup shredded fontina cheese
  • 1 cup shredded pecorino romano cheese
  • 1/2 cup muenster cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and whisk in flour until smooth.
  4. Gradually add milk and heavy cream, stirring until combined and smooth. Mix in half of the shredded cheese until melted; season with salt, pepper, and onion powder.
  5. Combine the cooked pasta with the cheese sauce in a large pot until well coated.
  6. Grease a baking dish (9×13 inch or cast iron skillet) and layer half of the pasta mixture followed by half of the remaining cheese. Repeat with another layer on top.
  7. Bake for 25-45 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Allow cooling slightly before serving.
