  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups chopped apples
  • 2 cups unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • Extra caramel for dripping apple slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add applesauce, eggs, and vanilla; mix well.
  4. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture alternately with milk until just mixed. Fold in chopped apples.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool before frosting with a mixture of butter, powdered sugar, caramel sauce, and cinnamon.
